Learn German Through Fairy Tales Cinderella Level 1 (Foreign Language Through Fairy Tales) (Foreign Language Through Fairy Tales)

Each fairy tale starts in English, then slowly MORPHS INTO GERMAN

Begin with LEVEL 1! This book will teach your child 20+ new German words in a fun, fast, and truly easy way! Here s how it works...

* An English word in the fairy tale is circled with its German translation in the column.

* From that moment forward, the German word (written in red) will be used throughout the rest of the story... and it will be used again and again in context!

* As the fairy tale progresses, more and more German words are added like a big language train gathering words along the way.

* The new words are repeated throughout the story helping to reinforce understanding.

* By the end of the book, the child has easily learned 20+ new German words in context!

It's easy! And remember... each level uses words taught from previous levels...so you ll want to continue with the next levels. By the end of the last level, the fairy tale will be written almost entirely in German - and it will be easy to understand EVERYTHING!

****************************************** Included: Audio CD with narration, sound effects, & fully orchestrated original music

4Great book - bad editing  Jul 02, 2008
I like the concept of this book with the little peppering of German words. I have some all-German books that I try to read to my son but he just loses interest. This one keeps it. We actually finished reading the book and moved onto an all-English book, something about a duck. The page showed the duck with tears and my two and a half year old pointed and said "That duck is traurig (sad)" and I wanted to get up to do a little dance.
It's a little difficult to understand in places; some of the sentences aren't arranged in English sentence structure. Perhaps they did that on purpose to get you subconsciously used to the German sentence structure.

However, I gave it 4 stars out of 5 due to editing. Out of the 30 or so pages which have only about 4 lines each in giant 14-16 size font type, the editors should have taken a little time to do their job properly and miss nothing. The front page glossary on my book defines "gross" as "horse." That is just sloppy work and it devalues the credibility of the rest of the book.

2not what I expected  Apr 24, 2008
This book was not what I expected, it might have been my fault for not reading carefully the description of this product. I don't like at all that the vast majority of the book is in English and a few German words are mixed in the story. I think this doesn't help at all. I have other books and Cds that are also for kids that want to learn German as a second language and everything you hear is in German. I think this approach is much better and I have used these products with my kids and have seen how they enjoy them and are starting to pick up words and understand what is being said.

5Fun Italian introduction for kids  Feb 20, 2008
My kids have a lot of fun listening to this book. It's a nice non-threatening way to introduce Italian. The new words sneak in gradually and the kids have no problem understanding the story.
